Conduct Guidelines

CHEER Conduct and Behavior Policy

We realize our actions and behavior reflect not only on ourselves and our families, but also on CHEER, the home schooling community, the body of Christ and ultimately our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we desire to hold to the highest standard of excellence in our conduct and behavior.

  • All members of CHEER shall agree to abide by the following guidelines at all CHEER functions and events, including field trips and Enrichment Days, and at all times on the premises of Perimeter Church. Membership in CHEER is conditioned upon strict adherence to this behavior policy. We are guests at Perimeter Church and wherever else we attend any event or field trip and shall behave accordingly.

  • Children must be under the direct supervision of a parent at all times. At no time is a child to be left unattended.

  • There is to be no running or rough play, no loud or distracting talk, shouting, etc. Be attentive and respectful to tour guides, teachers, speakers and staff.

  • Children are to respect the authority of adults within CHEER and those we encounter on outside events.

  • Parents understand that their priority during events and functions of CHEER is the supervision and guidance of their children.

  • CHEER members must always act with integrity.

Specifically, with regard to events at Perimeter Church:

1. All students 8th grade and younger MUST be accompanied by an adult at all times when they are at Perimeter for any CHEER event. This means when they need to go to the restroom or move to a different part of the building there is an adult accompanying them.

2. All students and parents must stay in the rooms where we are assigned and not mill about in the hallways. There are classes and offices all over the church and it's disruptive when we have groups in the hallways.

3. NO running in the hallways. This includes skipping, hopping, turning cartwheels, etc.

4. In Midtown auditorium or in the Fellowship hall, no students shall be on stage unless an adult leader of the program has invited them up there.

5. Clean up after yourself and your children.

6. When an event is over, please leave the facility so the clean-up crew can get in there. Often, we have groups coming in right after us and we need to get out so the church staff can reset the room for the next event. Sometimes the most helpful thing you can do is take your children outside so the clean-up can do their job easily.

7. No student should handle any sound equipment without the approval of the CHEER tech coordinator.

8. E-Day may have more guidelines and all families involved agree to abide by those.

 

Conflict Resolution

CHEER follows the Biblical principles of conflict resolution.

Matthew 18: 15-16

15“If your brother sins against you, go and tell him his fault, between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained your brother.16 But if he does not listen, take one or two others along with you, that every charge may be established by the evidence of two or three witnesses.

 

Until Jesus Christ returns, we will continue to have conflict even in Christian organizations. When conflicts arise, we encourage you to speak with that individual, one on one. If the conflict is not resolved, then you should take someone with you as a witness to speak with that individual. If the conflict is still not resolved, then the CHEER Board can step in. However, the CHEER Board is not immune from being approached in the case of causing a conflict. We encourage you to come to us individually or as a group if there has been an offense.
